British Business Awards 2024 Open for Applications

The British Chambers of Commerce in China are proud to launch the 2024 British Business Awards (BBA), recognising and promoting excellence in innovation, enterprise and endeavour in both the British and Chinese business communities. 

 

These biennial awards have become an increasingly prestigious feature of the business calendar and showcase a number of organisations and individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to trade and investment in China.The 2024 BBA applications are now open until 26th September. Finalists will be announced on 23rd October. The Awards Gala Dinner will be hosted on 21st November 2024 in Shanghai.

The New Brand Identity

 

In 2024, the British Business Awards launched a new brand identity inspired by the auspicious Chinese Knot (jié 结), a symbol of friendship and a fruitful, long-lasting relationship that represents the trade relations between the UK and China. The new logo serves as a Mark of Unity (tuán jié 团结) and features the energetic and everchanging colours of the Aurora Borealis.

9 Award Categories

This year, the nine award categories will showcase organisations and individuals who are achieving outstanding results, and who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to Sino-British trade and investment relations across a variety of disciplines in China.

Awards Timeline

  • 24th July​: Website Launch, Online Applications Open
  • 30th July​: Official Launch Event​
  • 26th September​: Applications Close
  • 23rd October​: Finalists Announcement Event
  • 23rd Oct – 8th Nov​​: Finalists Interviews
  • 21st November: Awards Ceremony Gala Dinner

Judging Process

How will it be judged?Judging is a three-step process, fully audited by KPMG, which eradicates any potential bias from a single judge or panel member. The process is as follows.Weighting of the Award

 

Step 1

Once the entry date closes, all entries are reviewed by independent judging panels – one for each of the nine categories. Each panel shortlists five finalists – all to be announced on 23rd October 2024.

Step 2

The shortlisted finalists are then invited for an interview assessment by their respective judging panels.

Step 3

A percentage of the award will be determined by an online vote – open to the public. The online votes, accounting for 10% of the candidates’ final scores, are then collated, weighted and added to the judges’ scores – resulting in an overall final score and a single winner for each category.
