Main tasks or roles

  • Authoring of Chinese and English language content
  • Design and presentation of BritCham communications & marketing
  • Member engagement and general networking
  • Event delivery and support
  • Monitoring of, and relationship building, within a specific industry
  1. The candidate’s first focus in this role is telling the story of the British Chamber to key stakeholders: members, potential members, the British government, the Chinese government, academia/think tanks, and the media. Take leadership in the production of the Chamber’s biannual magazine (sourcing, collation and occasional content writing). In short, their key role is to raise public perception of the Chamber across multiple buckets. (50%)
  2. Interpersonal communication is similarly vital to the role. As part of the BritCham team, employees need to take an interest in the needs of members, be able to articulate the Chamber’s offering, and explain how we can support their business. The successful candidate will be a tireless advocate for membership and will support the membership & growth manager in the renewal of existing members, including occasional admin support. (20%)
  3. Thirdly, the candidate must play an important role in delivering revenue-generating projects. As part of their role, the successful candidate would be expected to assist in the roll-out of our existing events portfolio (10%)
  4. As part of a revamp of the Position Paper process, the new hire would further be assigned an industry to monitor with the expectation of developing a basic level of industry/market-specific knowledge. They would coordinate drafting that industry-specific portion of the paper(s) with relevant members and policy associates. (10%)
  5. Ad-hoc as assigned by the Managing Director. For example, covering for teammates during a period of annual leave (10%)

  • A dynamic working environment where you’ll have the freedom to share your own ideas, put them into action, and develop industry or vocation-specific expertise
  • The opportunity to interact with a wide range of British business leaders across all sectors to grow and develop your professional network
  • Mentorship from industry leaders within the BritCham Executive Committee

What do we expect from you?

  • Strong English and native Chinese speaking & writing abilities
  • Experience working in business development/marketing/communications/NGO
  • Strong work ethic with an entrepreneurial and resilient mindset
  • Must be a team player willing to work in areas outside your comfort zone
  • Basic IT skills (including Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite)

  • Graphic design skills (Canva, Photoshop etc.) would be advantageous
  • Experience and confidence in working with very senior stakeholders
