Chamber Update: Announcing the British Chamber’s New Managing Director
The British Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to announce the appointment of Graeme Wallace as its new Managing Director, effective 1st March 2025.
Graeme brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously led commercial operations at the European Chamber of Commerce in China. After five years away from Beijing – during which he pursued further education and worked in the UK’s vibrant start-up ecosystem – Graeme returns to the city, ready to bring his expertise and energy to the Chamber.
“We are thrilled to welcome Graeme Wallace as the new Managing Director of the British Chamber of Commerce in China,” said Julian Fisher, Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China. “His extensive Chamber and advocacy experience, combined with his commercial acumen and passion for advancing UK-China trade, make him the ideal leader to guide the Chamber through these times of both uncertainty and opportunity.”
“I am excited to return to Beijing and join the British Chamber of Commerce in China at such a pivotal moment for UK–China relations,” said Graeme. “With the recent heating up of high-level visits and dialogues between the two countries, this is an exciting time for British business in China. I look forward to working closely with the Executive Committee and the Chamber’s highly capable team, as well as our members and partners, to ensure the independent voice of British business is heard by key stakeholders in both China and the UK. Together, we will continue to deliver BritCham’s renowned community events and keep our members at the heart of everything we do.”
Graeme will take over from Rachel Tsang, who leaves the Chamber after six years, including two years as Managing Director. The Executive Committee and Chamber Secretariat would like to thank Rachel for her dedication and leadership during her time with the Chamber and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
The British Chamber of Commerce in China has been at the heart of the British business community in China since the early days of reform and opening-up. On 1 April 1981 the British Chamber was established as the independent voice of British business in China, funded solely by our members. Today the British Chamber of Commerce in China remains firmly focused on members operating on the ground in China and our three pillars: advocating for the best possible market access, sharing knowledge, and bringing the community together.
