Our story with BritCham China didn't begin at a corporate networking mixer; it started on the slopes…
Scottish weather couldn’t dampen the heat of the Highland Games
Last Saturday, Beijing put on weather just like Scotland – cloudy one moment, drizzly the next. And our 2026 Scottish Highland Games went ahead as planned, in that authentic Scottish atmosphere.

Beijing City International School was transformed for the day into a proper “Scottish village”.
The sound of bagpipes rang out from the stage, the slam of tyre flipping, the laughter from the bouncy castle – and the gentle clink of whisky glasses, the happy feet of ceilidh dancing, children’s giggles from the sack race, and the warm scent of traditional British food stalls.
There was bound to be one moment that matched your ultimate vision of the Highland Games.

We were delighted to welcome Ambassador Peter Wilson CMG and Catriona Radcliffe, the Head of the Scottish Government Office in China to this year’s Highland Games. Their participation in the ceilidh dancing and their inspiring speeches brought tremendous energy and enthusiasm to the event. Their presence not only enriched the celebrations but also beautifully embodied the true spirit of Scotland, fostering cultural connection and community throughout the day.

Our sincere thanks to the Scottish Government, Scottish Development International, and the Beijing Scottish Society, as well as our sponsors: Bluestar AMG, Iceland, Beijing Mingde Hospital, and Start Moving, and our charity partner MCF for their incredible support.
And to every volunteer, and every single one of you who still showed up to play in that “Scottish weather”.
See you next year!
