About the Chamber
The British Chamber of Commerce in China (BritCham) is the independent voice of British business in China. We:
• Advocate for members’ interests across key policy areas
• Produce insights on the China business environment and UK–China relations
• Bring the community together through signature events such as the British Ball and Highland Games
Our secretariat team is small, agile, and collaborative. We’re seeking a proactive team player to lead event strategy and execution—comfortable working across both creative and logistical functions.
About the Role
We are hiring an Events Executive or Manager (title based on experience) to join our team in Beijing. This is a great opportunity to:

• Bring new ideas to both established and emerging events
You’ll oversee event planning from concept to delivery, including budgeting, marketing, branding, copywriting, and vendor coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Core Responsibilities
• Manage the annual programme of events—from large-scale gatherings to smaller panels and closed-door meetings
• Lead event concept development, calendar planning, and execution
• Oversee budgets, including forecasting and revenue tracking
• Collaborate with the MarCom Manager on event marketing, branding, and speaker briefs
• Act as primary contact for vendors, venues, sponsors, and key partners - Supplementary Responsibilities
• Identify and pursue sponsorship and partnership opportunities
• Support membership recruitment and retention efforts tied to events
• Contribute to long-lead projects like the China School Awards and British Business Awards
Key Competencies & Attributes
• Strong project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Proactive and self-driven; able to take ownership from start to finish
• Creative mindset, with confidence to suggest and deliver new ideas
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Collaborative, willing to support beyond your core role
• Interest in UK–China relations, the China business landscape, and community-building
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
• Experience in events, marketing, communications, or public affairs
• 2+ years’ experience for Executive level; 5+ years for Manager
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
• Chinese language skills equivalent to HSK5 or above
• Strong copywriting/editing skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency using standard IT tools; design or comms platforms
Desirable Extras
• Master’s degree, ideally with overseas experience
• Advanced or native-level Chinese
• Experience with senior stakeholders or government partners
• Graphic design skills (e.g. Canva, Photoshop)

• Monthly salary: RMB 12,000–16,000 (based on experience)
