Events & Marketing Executive

Working at the British Chamber of Commerce in China you will be introduced to all aspects of business functions – including events management, branding, copywriting, digital marketing as well as media and vendor relations.
Our new events executive will work closely with the head of the Chamber’s event and marketing function to lead on all our events & programmes – from major showcase events like the China Social Impact Awards, the Highland Games and the British Ball to high-level government roundtables to Quarterly Debates and market insights.

Marketing and Events Executive: Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, budgeting and the execution of events and marketing. You will also work with the colleagues from across the team to ensure the events programme is organised and developed effectively. Specific responsibilities include:
- Create and manage high profile events, including conferences/seminars and banquets.
- Maintain relationships with government departments, agencies and industry contacts with whom we partner for events.
- Delivering on revenue targets and managing costs effectively
- Proactively building on BCCC’s database to reach out to more British and Chinese companies’ actively developing trade together.
- Manage and grow the Chamber’s social media platforms through engaging and interesting content– weekly newsletters, LinkedIn posts and WeChat posts, includes content writing and poster designs.
- Ensure the Chamber identity is consistent throughout all publications and marketing materials.
- Update and maintain the Chamber website on a daily/weekly basis with upcoming news and events on WordPress.
- Design marketing materials using online designing tools (knowledge in adobe software: AI/ InDesign/Photoshop would be a plus).
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above
- At least 2 years’ working experience, including international or cross-cultural experience
- Self-motivated with a proactive attitude towards problem solving
- Flexible and open-minded, with the ability to adapt quickly to changes
- Native level written and fluent spoken English
- Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing directly with clients
- Self-motivated with a proactive attitude towards problem solving
Desirable skills:
- Fluent written and spoken Mandarin Chinese
- An understanding of British or international business culture
- Business development and/or customer-facing and/or sales experience
- Experience of using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database systems
- Membership organisation experience
