As the voice of British business in China we:
Speak with business leaders at Rolls-Royce, KPMG, Shell and other British companies of all sizes on regulatory challenges and opportunities in China
Present our research to the British Embassy, the Ministry of Commerce, the NDRC and other key government stakeholders
Produce thought leadership pieces on topics such as China-UK relations, China’s cybersecurity landscape and other critical topics for trade relations

Government Affairs Intern
- Track policy and regulatory developments relevant to British businesses in China
- Conduct research relating to the Chamber’s policy work
- Support the Chamber’s communication with businesses and government stakeholders on policy issues and initiatives
- Support the production of the Chamber’s flagship report, British Business in China: Position Paper 2026
- Assist in producing the Chamber’s ‘China in Five’ weekly policy updates and creating communications copy for advocacy newsletters
- Assist in English-Chinese translation for Chamber communications and media copy
What do we expect from you?
- Chinese native speaker with excellent English language skills, preferably in Beijing
- Background in law, economics, business, public policy, international relations, languages or other relevant areas
- Can work 3-5 days a week, start preferably in January and work for 4-6 months
- A foundational understanding of China and Chinese public policy
- Strong personal interest in China’s industrial and trade policy
- Good research ability
- A strong work ethic
- IT skills (including Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite)
Policy Intern
- Support the policy team on the delivery of British Business in China: Position Paper 2026 (one of the Chamber’s two key policy documents), providing support across the whole process, including assisting with organising roundtables, taking meeting notes, research, drafting, launch and post-launch activities.
- Support communication with business and government stakeholders on policy issues and initiatives
- Assist with logistics in organising and delivering of policy and knowledge events
- Assist in producing the Chamber’s ‘China in Five’ weekly policy updates
- Conduct research relating to the Chamber’s policy work and knowledge events
- Assist with drafting, editing, and proof-reading policy insights, reports and media copy for the Chamber
- Excellent Chinese and English language skills
