As the voice of British business in China we:
- Speak with business leaders at Rolls-Royce, The Economist, Shell and other British companies of all sizes on regulatory challenges and opportunities in China
- Present our research to the British Embassy, the Ministry of Commerce, the NDRC and other key government stakeholders
- Produce thought leadership pieces on topics such as the 14th Five-Year Plan, China-UK relations, China’s cybersecurity landscape and other critical topics for trade relations
We are looking for motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join a dynamic business organisation. The successful candidate will support on a variety of BritCham’s policy and advocacy work with the aim of influencing UK-China trade negotiations. Policy intern
(Native or near-native English speaker):
What will you be expected to do?
- Support the policy team on the delivery of the Sentiment Survey 2024-25 and other projects, including assisting with meeting with members, taking meeting notes, research and reviewing translation
- Support communication with business and government stakeholders on policy issues and initiatives
- Assist with logistics in organising and delivering of policy and knowledge events
- Assist in producing the Chamber’s ‘China in Five’ weekly policy updates
- Conduct research relating to the Chamber’s policy work and knowledge events
- Assist with drafting, editing, and proof-reading policy insights, reports and media copy for the Chamber
What do we expect from you?
- Excellent Chinese and English language skills
- Background in law, economics, business, public policy, international relations, languages or other relevant areas
- Can work 3-5 days a week, start preferably in September and work for 4-6 months
- A foundational understanding of China and Chinese public policy
- A strong work ethic
- Strong personal interest in China’s industrial and trade policy
- Good research ability
- IT skills (including Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite)
