ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/TEAM
Generation UK is a campaign that was launched by the British Council in 2013. It directly advances the UK government commitment to a Global Britain and is supported by all four UK administrations. The campaign aims to ensure that the UK has a generation of young people that will be able to drive forward the relationship with China. It represents a strategic investment in the UK’s competitiveness as well as in the employability and language ability of the participants.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY
The postholder will lead on the development of the British Council’s outward student mobility strategy for China and East Asia. The post-holder will report to the Head of Higher Education and will work with partners, stakeholders, sponsors and wider target audiences in the UK and China to meet the British Council’s strategic objectives.
This role will specifically support on our Outward Mobility work in China and across the East Asia region, including most notably the Generation UK campaign, but may also include additional project areas within the Education team.
WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT IT
This role will need to manage the needs of external and internal clients, and be able to work with key stakeholders and provide them with timely, effective and efficient communications on all our outward mobility programme. Crucially, the role will also coordinate with Regional and Global outward mobility teams on key communications and activity strands.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
To be successful, you should have a recognised degree-level qualification in social science or relevant working experience with minimum five years of relevant work experience in project or programme management including line management and external representation. You will be required to travel frequently within China and to the UK. You must be a Chinese or UK passport holders or spouses or partners of diplomats.
