Welcome Our New Member:Greenkern

Welcome Greenkern to BritCham!

Our community continues to grow! Each new member brings fresh ideas, expertise, and opportunities to strengthen UK–China business connections. Get to know our newest member — their story, achievements, and how they’re helping shape the future of UK–China collaboration.

Our story with BritCham China didn’t begin at a corporate networking mixer; it started on the slopes of Mount Everest. Over two decades ago, Greenkern’s Managing Partner, Tom van Dillen, then working at a previous firm, collaborated on a highly ambitious project: ensuring the Chairman of the British Chamber, Nigel Clark, had a working satellite phone while summiting the world’s highest peak. That very first association was entirely about pushing each other forward and keeping vital connections alive. Now, after twenty years of shared stages, innovation workshops, and informal collaboration in Beijing, we’ve decided it’s finally time to make an honest commitment. Today, Greenkern is thrilled to formally sign the papers and become an official member of BritCham China. The ink on the membership might be new, but our shared history of striving for the summit spans more than two decades.

From running hands-on innovation workshops to becoming official members. Here’s a look backat an action-packed session we moderated for BritCham’s Young Professionals Development Programme.

Unlock Greenkern

What makes your organisation unique in your industry or market?

We believe that true innovation requires a bit of that “Everest mindset.” As an innovation consultancy with 20 years on the ground in Beijing, Greenkern helps global leaders decode China’s complexity and turn it into a competitive advantage. What makes us unique is our blend of deep local context with an action-focused approach that cuts out the corporate fluff. We don’t just write strategy reports; we build tangible innovation tools and run dynamic workshops, many of which we’ve already proudly hosted alongside BritCham members over our long, informal history.

What inspired your organisation to become a member of BritCham China?

Honestly, you can only be the “close friend of the Chamber” for so long before you realise you should just commit. We’ve been collaborating with the network informally for years, sharing stages, ideas, and, of course, high-altitude telecommunications! But as the market in China enters a new, complex phase, supporting from the sidelines isn’t enough. It’s time to make the informal, formal, and get to work.

The “Summit” Strategy Session

To celebrate making our long-term relationship official Greenkern is offering a complimentary 25-minute “Innovation Health Check” to fellow BritCham members. Whether you are navigating a tricky market landscape or looking for your next big growth opportunity, let’s map out your next ascent.
