- Explore and present the concerns of British business to government stakeholders
- Develop new products that express policy recommendations on behalf of members or provide policy insights for businesses
- Expand representation in our advocacy work
- Strengthen relationships with government and other stakeholders
- Strengthen brand awareness around policy work
- Lead on the development of existing and new policy initiatives (eg. our Annual Position Paper and Business Sentiment Survey)
- Track major policy announcements from Chinese regulators and other developments relevant to British businesses in China
- Be point person for regulatory issues in the financial services, legal services, food, beverage and retail, and education sectors.
- Develop and manage relationships with government, member companies and other external stakeholders
- Work with Executive Committee on messaging for key reports
- Support on drafting of speeches, letters and other external messaging

What do we need from you?
- An undergraduate degree in public policy, economics, international relations or a related degree. A postgraduate degree is desirable but not essential.
- 4 years’ work experience, preferably including writing policy documents and/or undertaking primary research
- A solid understanding of China and UK-China relations
- Native or near-native English language skills (British English) and advanced Mandarin (spoken and written)
- A keen eye for detail
- Experience presenting information to external stakeholders
- An ability to manage several projects simultaneously to strict deadlines
- An ability to lead a small team
- Strong IT skills
- Experience working with very senior stakeholders
- Experience working in the financial services, legal services, food, beverage and retail, and/or education sectors
