• To lead an innovative and progressive department with an ambitious vision for the future of Performing Arts.
• Play a crucial role in whole-school strategy and development in relation to Performing Arts.
• Ensure a high profile for Performing Arts throughout BSB Sanlitun.
• Organise and oversee a programme of concerts and performances such as Year Group productions, Christmas concerts, graduation ceremonies and school open events
• To teach pupils assigned to your class within the school and carry out duties as required by the Senior Leadership Team.
• Ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reports meet the expectations of the school.

| Teaching and Learning § Ensure effective teaching and management of specialist classes, groups and individuals so that objectives are met, progress and challenge are maintained and the best use is made of teaching time. § Use teaching methods, which will engage stimulate pupils’ intellectual curiosity including the use of effective questioning, clear presentation and effective use of resources. § Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of behaviour management through focused teaching and create positive and productive relationships in accordance with the rules and behaviour policy of the school. § Integrate the use of IT where appropriate to enhance the learning experience of students. § Implement the use of the Julliard 12 Core Works within the curriculum context. § Promote involvement in music-making through example |
| Planning Expectations § Identify clear teaching objectives, content, structures and sequences of lessons appropriate to the educational needs of all pupils. § Set appropriate, yet challenging expectations for pupils’ learning, building on prior attainment. § Identify students who may require additional support and know where to get help in order to give positive and targeted support. § Ensure that planning shows a clear understanding of the year group expectations and leads to progression within lessons and over sequences of lessons. |
| Assessment and Evaluation § To assess pupil’s achievements and progress in accordance with agreed policies and procedures. § Implement AfL strategies to evaluate how well learning objectives are/have been achieved and adapt future teaching and learning accordingly. |
| Relations with Parents and the Wider Community § Prepare and present informative reports to parents in a professional manner. § Seek opportunities to showcase the skills of students for school and wider audiences. § Prepare presentations for parental groups as required by the school. § Make key contacts with local businesses and embassies to provide external performance opportunities (Christmas, Chinese New Year, End of Year). |
| Performing Arts opportunities within the School § Oversee and manage the Music Peripatetic Programme. § Work strategically with the Marketing Department of the school to plan for opportunities where children’s talents can be shared with a wider audience. § Maintain and develop the quality of school performances both internally and externally. § Provide guidance and support to class teachers on performances. § Take responsibility for the music and singing programme in assemblies across the school. § Liaise with the Drama, Dance and Choral teachers and Julliard professionals to maximise outcomes for the Performing Arts department. |
| Managing and Developing Relations within the School § work collaboratively to lead a small and dynamic Performing Arts team § Interact on a professional level with academic and administrative colleagues to establish productive working relationships. § To contribute to meetings, discussions and systems to facilitate the smooth running of the school. § Supervise the work of teaching assistants and participate in their professional development. |
